What are Isochronic tones?

Isochronic tones are a very effective audio-based method of stimulating the brain. Like binaural beats, both of these methods are examples of a complex neurological process known as Brainwave Entrainment, which enables the use of audio or visual stimuli to affect the brain and help people with a variety of problems.

At its simplest level, an isochronic tone is just a tone that is being turned on and off rapidly. They create sharp, distinctive pulses of sound, as seen in the pattern here.

These are tones which are evenly spaced and turn on and off quickly. They differ from binaural beats as they are created manually by manipulating the frequency, rather than your brain having to do it. The tone you hear is a stable, uninterrupted one as opposed to the more pulsing tone you get with binaurals.

Isochronic tones are widely accepted to be extremely effective when used in therapeutic recordings because they produce a very strong cortical response in the brain. Using isochronic tones means that your brain has to do less work that it does with binaural beats, and the biggest advantage of using them is that you do NOT need headphones. Like everything else, preference for isochronic tones or binaural beats is highly subjective – in order to know which works best for you, you really need to try both. Most of our Meditation/Relaxation MP3s contain isochronic tones.

Advantages – When your brain hears isochronic tones, it naturally goes into a state of relaxation or focus. When we add the right kind of carrier tracks, we set up an optimum platform for adding in special therapeutic and subliminal messages for effective and rapid change that your subconscious mind can easily absorb. Also, because headphones are not needed, you can listen to them during the daytime whilst working.

Some Areas where Isochronic Tones have proven to be highly effective are:

Cognition / Attention / Focus: A growing body of research is showing that brainwave stimulation can be an incredibly effective tool to promote attention and focus.

Stress Reduction: Our sessions are designed to be naturally relaxing and are especially good for stress and anxiety.

Emotional Stability / Mood Support: Decades of neuro-feedback research have revealed specific brainwave patterns characteristic of negative moods and overly emotional mental states. Brainwave entrainment sessions have been developed and recent research is showing it to be a very promising aide in this area.

Motivation / Energy: Many users report experiencing a great boost in energy as a result of listening to isochronic tones sessions, including our “Wake Up” session that can replace caffeine.

Deep Meditation: Using our audios can be likened to a form of “high tech” meditation, where you can quickly reach the focused state experienced during meditation.
